Checkout
and Overdue Policy:
Any patron may borrow
as many items at one time as he or she desires, as long as the loan is
reasonable and the patron proven responsible.
Books, magazines and audios may be retained for two weeks and are
subject to renewal unless the item is on the Reserve List.
Reference materials may not be checked out.
Videos may be retained for one week.
Library materials are subject to recall for operational reasons.
Special needs of patrons for extended loans will be considered.
Books may be renewed by phone for one renewal only.
Overdue charges are 10 cents per day per item, except for videos,
which will be charged at 50 cents per day per video.
No charge for Saturdays, Sundays or holidays is assessed.
Patrons will be
notified about overdue materials after two weeks.
If there is no response within one month, a bill for the
replacement value of the materials will be sent to the patron.
No materials shall be issued to any patron who has penalties
unsettled. After 60 days a
delinquent list will be read to the Board.
The delinquent patron will then be subject to Board action.
The Board will then notify delinquent patrons by letter that if
fines for books, or other items, are not paid immediately, they will be
subject to Court action. The library reserves the right to initiate legal action
through the Small Claims Court, if necessary.
Patrons
shall report materials that have been lost immediately.
Once reported, materials are not subject to overdue fines.
If not located within a month, the patron is requested to replace
the material or pay its value. If
the material is found later and returned, the money will be refunded if
the library has not already replaced the item.
Any
patron may reserve materials by consulting the library staff.
Patrons should pick up reserve books within 7 days of notice,
except for Interlibrary loan books which should be picked up within 2
days.
Books for which there are waiting lists cannot be renewed.
